What is Cost of Sales

This ratio shows the Cost of Sales value of the symbol for the selected quarter. This item shows expenses to produce the goods and services sold by the company. Cost of Sales is taken from the income statement of the financial report. When this value is not available it is calculated from the financials footnotes or the income statement by summation of the underlying expenses.

Cost of Sales (Quarterly)

This item shows the Cost of Sales value for the selected quarter.

Calculation:

Cost of Sales (Quarterly) value is equivalent to the line item value from the income statement of the financial report, when available. When this value is not available, it is calculated by the taking the selected period’s value minus the previous quarter’s value.

Cost of Sales (TTM)

This item shows the trailing Cost of Sales value of the preceding four periods. It removes the seasonal sales effects and gives the opportunity to make efficient comparison analysis.

Calculation:

Cost of Sales (TTM) is calculated by summing the Cost of Sales values of the selected quarter and the previous 3 quarters.
